Happy Birthday Pa

Last Sunday was my Dad's birthday! Everyone came over for Sunday dinner which dad normally makes. This Sunday Jessica and I decided to give him a break from cooking and said that we would make dinner and dessert for him. Well... Dad decided that he wanted roast with dutch oven potatoes for dinner and carrot cake for dessert. This was all fine until Jessica and I realized that neither one of us knew how to make roast! So instead of letting dad take the day off from cooking, we gave him the gift of letting him teach us how to make roast! (lol, thanks Pa!) Fortunately, I have made a few carrot cakes before, so I did that, and Ben makes awesome dutch oven potatoes, so he did that.

When it came time to have cake my mom went to get candles for dad to blow out. Dad was turning 44 so she needed two fours. Well, she has one of every number... only one. So Dad got to be 43 plus 1! You can see what we did in a few of the pictures, if you look closely.

Mom got dad a new set of scriptures (all leather cases) and a new scripture bag!

2 Month Old Anniversary Post

I know it was two months ago, but Bryan and I celebrated our two year anniversary this July! It was so great~ we both took a full week off to celebrate. We talked about it and agreed to spend Saturday (our actual anniversary) just hanging around the house and getting things done so we could enjoy the rest of our time off. Well, I guess neither of us are very good at keeping to our agreements because I ordered us an anniversary cake (it's the exact same type of cake as our top tier from our wedding), and Bryan bought me a gift.

Since we hadn't planned on doing anything special on the day of our anniversary we decided to each take a day of the week and plan our own anniversary celebration days for each other! It was kinda funny though because Bryan's day for me was really a day for him, and my day for him was really a day for me! Here, let me show you-

Bryan's Day:

For Bryan's day we stayed home most of the morning. Bryan played games and I lounged around in my pj's and watched TV. Later that afternoon we went over to my parents house and went swimming. After swimming we hurried home, took showers and got ready for a night at Medieval Times! It was so much fun! And the food was actually really good!

My Day:

On my day we had a jam packed schedule! We started the morning off at Einsteins for breakfast. Then we shot up to McKinney where we spent a couple of hours at Craig Ranch in the Spa. (We got a couples massage and played around in the "lounge room" for a while.) After our massages we were ready for lunch so we went to The Corner Bakery where they make the best panini's EVER! Then we went to... don't laugh... we went to make pottery. I know, everyone in my family gave me a hard time for making Bryan come with me to make pottery, but it's really relaxing and we actually had a lot of fun doing it! We both made pasta bowls since that's our favorite meal to make together. Mine was taller and a little less wide and I colored it brown with pink dots. Bryan's was a little shorter, but wider. His is blue with yellow dots around the rim. He also added the word "yum" on the inside bottom, and a smiley face on the outside bottom. By the time we were done with pottery it was getting late and we still needed to get back to Plano for our dinner reservations. We ate a Brio in the new shopping center off of Bethany. I thought it was really good, but Bryan wasn't too impressed. After dinner we were both pretty pooped so we stopped at The Cheese Cake Factory to get some dessert to go. The sad part is... we went home and went straight to bed. We didn't even eat our dessert!

We had lots of fun together on our week off! I wish we could spend every week like that. Oh well, Happy (really late) Anniversary babe!

Baby Shower, School, Work, Moving, and More

Ok, it's official... I suck at updating my blog! I don't know what happened! I went from having way too much free time to having literally none! So here's the speedy version of what's been going on since... when was my last post? Anyway- Bryan and I celebrated our two year anniversary in July and had a wonderful week off together! (I have pictures and stories to add when I get a few more minutes.) Ben and I finally convinced Jessica to have a baby shower! "Yeah!" (For all those interested here's the info about the shower http://showerforbabyjones.blogspot.com/ ) I'm up at TWU for school this semester and I've discovered a few things about this school. First- it's a freaking long drive to make three times a week! Second- I honestly believe that the teachers plan their curriculum assuming that you either live on campus or don't have a job. And Third- If you ever EVER admit to a teacher that your number one priority isn't school, you are going to get completely embarrassed in front of everyone else in the class. (No, this didn't happen to me. Thank goodness there was another girl who said what I was thinking before I got the chance to say it!) I'm also back to PASAR this year. This year I will have the privilege of watching the kids who were in Kindergarten when I started "graduate" from 5th grade! How crazy is that! Bryan and I are also moving in a few weeks into another apartment. Somehow we went from a tiny one bedroom at Benton point, and not having enough furniture to fill it, to a huge two bedroom here, and having too much stuff! So now we're going back to a one bedroom... this will be interesting! So to try and help with the "too much stuff" issue we are also trying to organize a yard sale for either late September or early October. "Does anyone need a BBQ? How about a vacuum?!" I'll try my best to let ya'll know when everything is happening and how it all goes! On top of all this Bryan and I are still in the "trying again" phase of the baby making process. So far the count is two pregnancies and zero babies. We've run a bazillion tests and so far Dr. Moss hasn't found any reason for "why", but we're sure it will happen when it's supposed to! Again, I know I suck at keeping ya'll updated. As Jess always says "...I'm a work in progress!"

P.S.- Jessica has got me hooked on The Office. I was watching an episode the other day and it made me think of her babyshower. It almost made me want to resend the invitations with this quote added-
Angela: "Meredith! If you don't come to my party, you will be very, very sorry."
Meredith: "Is that a threat?"
Angela: "No, it's an invitation."
