The Preschooler's Law of Property

Today was my last day teaching Preschool for the summer! We talked about a whole lot during these few months, but I think the most important things I learned are the Preschoolers Laws of Property. For those of you who don't know yet, here they are-

1. If I like it, it's mine.
2. If it's in my hand, it's mine.
3. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
4. If it looks like one I have at home, it's mine.
5. If I think for any reason that it should be mine, it's mine.

Preschool is a lot of work, but the kids can be very sweet! You have your good days and your "this is crazy, I want to pull my hair out" days. But no matter how many times you feel like you can't stand your job, one little "I'll miss you very much Mrs. Randi" can make it all worth it!

We were sitting in carpool today waiting for the kids parent to pick them up, when this little girl ( I can't say her name) turned to me and said "Mrs. Randi I want you to walk me out today." I told her that I would try to be the one to take her out, but if I was already taking someone else out that the other teacher would take her. This answer did not please her. She folded her arms and huffed. I decided to not respond to her huff. A few seconds later she tapped my leg and asked "Mrs. Randi could you PLEASE take me out?!" I told her I would try. Well it just so happened that I was able to take her out to her car. Before she got into her seat she turned around and gave me a hug and said "I'll miss you very much Mrs. Randi." I just about died!

Aw Rand.. I love to hear stories like that. It shows how good you are at your job. How fun! I can't imagine being a teacher and having to go through that heartbreak at the end of every school year! You guys must be suckers for punishment! =)
